Why I started building Solexi.ai
Written by Daniel Tanguay, founder of Solexi.ai.
Solexi.ai did not start in an office or in a business plan. It started with a father realising, one evening, that he could not tell his children where half of what matters in his life actually is.
Where it started
Photos on three phones and two computers. Important papers in a drawer, others with a notary, others buried in an inbox. Online accounts nobody else knows about. And family stories told only at the dinner table, never written down.
The question was not “what if I died tomorrow”. It was simpler: “would my family be able to find any of this?” The answer was no.
What I wanted to build
Not another piece of software. A quiet, private place where you add one thing at a time without becoming a computer expert. Simple enough for a 70-year-old parent, serious enough to hold a legal document.
And above all, a place that is not limited to paperwork. A family is not an administrative file: it is a voice, a recipe, a badly framed photo, a story you only think you know.
- Easy to use, even without digital habits.
- Private by default, never public.
- Documents and memories in the same place.
- Paid once, not one more subscription.
What I do not claim to do
Solexi does not replace a will, a notary, a lawyer or a financial adviser. It is not a legal service and it is not a promise of digital eternity.
It is a tool for organizing and passing things on. Nothing more — but done properly.
Where the project stands
The app already exists and works. The Kickstarter campaign funds what comes next: more languages, more capacity, and reaching families who have never heard of it.
I am not only building an app. I am building something I would want to leave my own children.
Frequently asked questions
Who is behind Solexi.ai?
A small family team, not a large company. The project was started by a father in Quebec, for a need he had himself.
Why run a Kickstarter if the app already exists?
Building is one thing; being found is another. The campaign funds the next stage of development and gives an independent project the visibility it would not otherwise get.
How can I help today?
By clicking “Notify me on launch” on the Kickstarter page. It is free and it genuinely helps the campaign start strong.
Solexi does not replace a legal will, a notary or a lawyer. Solexi helps you gather, organize and pass on your information.
